Price the route, frame area and retries.
There is no single Seedance 2.5 price that describes every API and web plan. On fal, the inspected endpoints use video tokens. A per-second headline is only meaningful with a resolution and a definition of which seconds are billed.
Start with the size of the output you need and a realistic number of attempts. A low per-second rate is not necessarily a low cost for the finished clip.
A token formula is more useful than a headline rate.
For the two frame presets below, this calculator uses fal’s documented formula: width × height × billable seconds × 24 ÷ 1024. Multiply tokens by $0.0214 ÷ 1000. The reference-video route also counts input seconds and applies a 0.6 rate multiplier when video references are present.
| Workload | Approximate tokens | Estimated USD |
|---|---|---|
| 5s output · 1280×720 · no video reference | 108,000 | $2.3112 |
| 10s output · 1280×720 · no video reference | 216,000 | $4.6224 |
| 30s output · 1280×720 · no video reference | 648,000 | $13.8672 |
| 10s output + 8s reference · 1280×720 | 388,800 | $4.9922 after ×0.6 |
| 10s output · 864×496 · no video reference | 100,440 | $2.1494 |
The inspected pages also display approximate per-second prices that do not exactly reproduce every frame-size example. We use the explicit token formula and dimensions here. Confirm actual returned dimensions, usage and invoice before treating this as a fixed quote. 1080p has a separate published rate and is outside this calculator.
Estimate the whole iteration budget.
Editorial estimate using fal’s published 24 fps formula and $0.0214 per 1,000 tokens at these two resolutions. With reference video, input and output seconds are included and the documented 0.6 multiplier applies. Presets are explicit frame examples, not a guarantee of returned dimensions. Includes no tax, other platform fees or post-production.
With a 10-second output at 720p, an 8-second video reference costs about $4.99 per attempt under this formula, slightly more than the $4.62 no-video-reference example. The lower rate is applied to more billable seconds.
An API bill and a subscription buy different things.
| Route | Check before paying | Budgeting implication |
|---|---|---|
| fal API | Endpoint, frame dimensions, token formula, reference seconds | Compute usage for the actual request |
| OpenRouter API | Selected provider, resolution and current provider rate | Do not apply another provider’s headline rate |
| Web subscription | Model access, credits, priority, export and renewal terms | Divide the plan cost by realistically usable outputs |
OpenRouter’s inspected page shows a “from” price and a separate provider row with a different per-second figure. Those are not a universal cross-platform price. Compare the same output settings and selected provider before deciding which route is cheaper.
Budget an accepted edit, not just generated seconds.
- Write the acceptance conditions: product identity, camera move, dialogue, framing and any exact on-screen copy.
- Prototype a short shot before committing to a longer render. Keep the settings recorded so you know what the result cost.
- Trim reference footage to the portion needed for the shot. Input seconds can change the bill even when output length stays fixed.
- Include rejected attempts, editing, sound work and exports in the project budget. Compare cost per accepted deliverable.
For a second video workflow, read H3 vs H3 Max. Different controls and output limits matter as much as the rate.
Common questions
Is Seedance 2.5 free or unlimited?
API access is metered. A platform may separately offer a temporary trial or plan allowance; verify its current limits, eligible model and expiry. This page does not promise unlimited free generations.
Does adding reference video always save money?
No. On the inspected fal route it lowers the token rate by a multiplier, but the input video duration also becomes billable. A long reference can outweigh the lower rate.
Is this a VSModels checkout price?
No. These are supplier pricing examples and a local calculator. VSModels does not currently offer Seedance video generation, and the calculator does not spend your credits.
Sources, method and access
Prices and specifications are a dated documentation snapshot. Calculators run in your browser and estimate supplier API costs; they do not call a model or quote VSModels credits. Vendor claims and independent evaluations are labeled separately. VSModels has not run a paid head-to-head test for this guide and does not offer live calls to the models covered here.
