Nano Banana 2
vs Nano Banana Pro

When is Pro worth the extra cost? A source-based guide to quality, editing and cost.

WHERE TO START

The right model depends on the work.

Evaluate Nano Banana 2 for fast iteration, then compare Pro on difficult text and composition. A small photography comparison reported similar scores, so a higher price alone is not a reason to choose Pro.

This guide combines published sources. VSModels has not run its own live model benchmark. Studio images are illustrative samples.

01 / THE EVIDENCE

Read the task behind the score.

Image generation and image editing are different evaluations. A preference leaderboard is useful background, but it does not guarantee accurate text, an unchanged product label or faithful edits.

02 / THE COST

One image. Three resolution tiers.

These are fal supplier prices researched on Oct 9, 2026, for basic image generation without search. They are not VSModels retail prices.

USD per image · 2.1 figures are sample costs, not fixed prices
Model1K2K4K
Nano Banana 2.1*$0.0396$0.0593$0.1335
Nano Banana 2$0.08$0.12$0.16
Nano Banana Pro$0.15$0.15$0.30

*2.1 uses token billing. These short-prompt, single-image samples are not a maximum charge. Thinking, reference images and search can change the bill.

A two-model comparison uses two outputs. Add both sides when budgeting. The proposed credit packages are a planning preview; live generation and purchases are not open.

03 / YOUR NEXT COMPARISON

Turn a preference into a useful test.

01

Product photos

Use the same product and lighting brief. Check shape, material, label spelling and details that should stay unchanged.

02

Text & layouts

Supply exact copy. Check every word, hierarchy and spacing. A beautiful layout can still contain incorrect text.

03

Complex scenes

Count objects and verify spatial instructions. Repeat the prompt and keep failures, not just your favorite image.

Record the endpoint, ratio, resolution, references and search/thinking settings. Compare at the same scale. If the settings cannot match, explain the difference.

04 / SOURCES & ACCESS

What is available here?

VSModels currently offers a free mock workflow and source-based guides for image models. Google develops the Nano Banana models; fal is the planned API supplier. Documented endpoints establish the request contract, not successful access or a recorded VSModels result.
